LeVar Burton Praises John Amos’ Legacy

Actor LeVar Burton has honored the late John Amos, recognizing his groundbreaking role in Hollywood.

Burton praised Amos for his portrayal of James Evans in the sitcom “Good Times,” which challenged stereotypes by depicting a Black man as a dedicated householder.

“He changed the way Black men were perceived on television,” Burton said.

John Amos’ Death and Family’s Concerns

Amos died of natural causes in August. His son, K.C. Amos, announced the news on Tuesday.

Amos’ daughter, Shannon Amos, expressed concerns about not being informed about her father’s death until after his cremation. She and other family members are planning a memorial service on November 23.
