Family Road Trip with Teenagers
My family recently embarked on a six-day road trip with three teenagers and a boyfriend. We visited Niagara Falls in Canada and New York, and made stops along the way.
Pre-Planning Expenses
To prepare, we incurred expenses for a rental car, gas, and multiple hotel rooms. We opted for a luxurious hotel in Canada with a rooftop pool and rented an Airbnb in New York for a more rural experience.
Day 1: Connecticut to Canada
We began our journey with a breakfast at home and stopped at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que for lunch. We then continued to Niagara Falls State Park in New York for a taste of the falls before settling into our hotel in Canada.
Day 2: Niagara Falls
We explored the falls with a morning breakfast at Tim Hortons and visits to Niagara Parks Power Station and Journey Behind the Falls. We dined at the Table Rock Cafe before an unforgettable Hornblower Boat Ride. In the evening, we enjoyed a special dinner at the Skyon Tower with stunning views.
Day 3: New York
We relaxed with a diner breakfast before a leisurely drive to Niagra on the Lake. We stopped at a coffee shop and farm stand before arriving at our Airbnb in Savona, NY.
Day 4: Corning, NY
After breakfast, we visited the Corning Glass Museum and took a glassblowing class, creating memorable souvenirs. We enjoyed sandwiches and ice cream before spending the afternoon relaxing at our Airbnb.
Day 5: Watkins Glen State Park
We made breakfast and took a free farm tour. We avoided crowds at Watkins Glen State Park and had a picnic lunch before returning to our Airbnb for dinner and entertainment.
Day 6: Return Home
We bid farewell to New York with a quick breakfast and purchased snacks for the ride home. We stopped at Wendy’s for lunch before continuing our journey.
Financial Breakdown
Our road trip totaled over $5,000 in expenses, including travel, lodging, food, and entertainment.
