Lithuania Seizes Russian Military Supplies, Sends to Ukraine

Additional Coverage:

Lithuanian customs officials have intercepted military supplies meant for Russia’s army and sent them to Ukraine.

The supplies, including camouflage pants and nets, were discovered in four separate shipments on trains traveling from Kaliningrad, a Russian exclave, to Moscow.

Customs officials believe the shipments were likely sent by Russian volunteer groups supporting President Vladimir Putin’s war effort.

Lithuania, a former Soviet republic, has been a strong supporter of Ukraine. It has donated military and humanitarian aid worth 1.43% of its GDP, making it one of the largest donors to Ukraine per capita.

Lithuania is among several NATO countries bordering Russia that are concerned about the possibility of a Russian invasion and are increasing their military spending and building defensive lines.
