Adams Deputy Resigns Amid Federal Probe

New York City Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright has stepped down, becoming the tenth high-ranking official to leave Mayor Eric Adams’ administration amid a federal probe. Wright’s home was searched and her electronics seized last month as part of the investigation.

Wright did not disclose the reason for her resignation. Adams thanked Wright for her service, calling her an “exceptional leader.” Maria Torres-Springer will take over Wright’s role.

Federal investigators have been scrutinizing Adams’ inner circle for over a year. Wright’s resignation follows a string of other departures, including School Chancellor David Banks and former Police Commissioner Edward Caban, whose devices were also confiscated.

Mohamed Bahi, a senior liaison in the Adams administration, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly obstructing the investigation. Neither Wright nor Banks have been charged.
