Hurricane Survivor Rides Out Storms in Sailboat

A Florida man nicknamed “Lieutenant Dan” made headlines after surviving Hurricane Milton in a small sailboat. Joseph Malinowski defied warnings and remained in his boat, tied to a dock near Tampa General Hospital.

Unwavering Determination

Malinowski, missing part of his left leg, said he was unfazed by the storm. “I wasn’t going anywhere,” he told Fox News. “It didn’t scare me because I didn’t see it, I didn’t write it.”

Social Media Sensation

Malinowski’s TikTok videos and news interviews went viral, with viewers eagerly awaiting his survival. TikToker Adin Ross offered him a lucrative deal, but it was later rescinded due to Malinowski’s criminal record.

Past Troubles

Malinowski has faced legal issues in the past, including charges of battery and drug possession. Despite the backlash, he plans to ride out future storms in his boat, even though ownership of the vessel is in question.

Hurricane Impact

Milton inflicted damage on Tampa Bay and “cosmetic damage” to Malinowski’s boat. He said he experienced wind gusts of up to 102 mph, but he meditated and visualized a protective ring around him.

Aftermath

Malinowski woke up after the storm in a different location from where he had tied his boat. He said he had a “peaceful night” and slept for several hours before being alerted to the boat’s movement.
