Black Workday Employee Sues Over Discrimination
Anthony Hill, a Black employee of Workday, has filed a lawsuit alleging race and disability discrimination. Hill claims that while on medical leave, the company sent police to his home for a “wellness check.”
Wellness Check Raises Concerns
Hill was hospitalized from October 12 to November 22, 2022, due to stress and exhaustion. On October 20, while he was still in the hospital, Workday sent police to his house. Hill claims he was unaware of any concerns or attempts by Workday to contact him before the police visit.
Additional Discrimination Claims
Hill alleges that he faced other incidents of racial bias at Workday. He was denied a promotion and faced pushback from colleagues. He also claims that a manager made a racially insensitive comment during a meeting.
Workday’s Response
Workday has declined to comment on the lawsuit. The company is also facing a class-action lawsuit over its AI software, which allegedly screens out job applicants for discriminatory reasons.
Questions Remain
Hill’s lawsuit raises questions about Workday’s handling of his situation. Why did the company send police to his home?
Was Hill targeted due to his race or disability? The lawsuit will likely shed light on these issues and the company’s policies and practices.
