Jury Selected for Double Murder Trial

A jury has been selected for the trial of Richard Allen, the Indiana man accused of killing two teenage girls in 2017. The victims, Abby Williams and Libby German, were found near a hiking trail in Delphi, Indiana.

New Evidence Revealed

Allen’s defense attorney revealed that a hair was found in one of the girl’s hands that did not belong to Allen. Additionally, the bullet found at the scene may have multiple interpretations.

Motion to Prevent Sketch References

Prosecutors are asking the court to prevent the defense from mentioning composite sketches of a person of interest released early in the investigation. The sketches are not believed to be related to identifying Allen as the suspect.

Killings Shocked Community

The girls’ murders remained a mystery for five years, shocking the small town of Delphi. Key evidence includes a video clip and audio recording of the suspect taken by the victims.

Allen’s Arrest and Confession

Allen, a Delphi resident, was arrested in October 2022. Court documents indicate he confessed to the killings in a jail phone call with his wife in April 2023.

Opening statements in the trial are scheduled for Friday. The jury will be sequestered during the trial, which is expected to last for several weeks.
