Missing French Teen Found Dead

The body of a 15-year-old French girl who vanished over a year ago has been discovered in a wooded area. The teen, known as Lina, had been missing since September 2023.

Extensive Search and Discovery

Police had conducted an exhaustive search, gathering reports, interviewing witnesses, and examining vehicles. The breakthrough came when they analyzed GPS data from a car linked to the presumed killer, Samuel Gonin. This data led them to the remote site in the Nievre region, hundreds of miles from Lina’s last known location.

DNA Confirmation and Time of Disappearance

DNA testing confirmed the identity of the body. Lina’s smartphone signal was lost on September 23, 2023, as she walked to catch a train. A kidnapping investigation was launched a week later.

Suspect’s Car and Letter

After months of investigation, police identified Gonin’s Ford Puma as being near the area when Lina disappeared. Gonin died by suicide in July before he could be questioned. His farewell letter hinted at a loss of honor and control.

Post-Mortem Examination

An autopsy and other examinations will determine the cause of Lina’s death. Forensic experts believe that despite potential decomposition, the body will provide valuable information.
