North Carolina saw a strong turnout on the first day of early voting, with 353,166 ballots cast. This exceeded the 2020 election’s first-day count and was more than double the number cast in 2016.
Absentee Voting Adds to Total
In addition to early in-person voting, 75,133 absentee ballots were cast, bringing the total votes cast to 428,299.
Party Breakdown
Early voters were predominantly Democrats (36.3%) and Republicans (34.7%), with 28.6% registering as independents.
