Disgraced Hollywood Mogul Harvey Weinstein Diagnosed with Leukemia

Former film producer Harvey Weinstein, known for his alleged sexual misconduct that fueled the #MeToo movement, has been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia while imprisoned at Rikers Island. This is a rare form of bone marrow cancer.

Despite the diagnosis, Weinstein’s legal representative stated they will not comment out of respect for his privacy.

Weinstein has faced a series of health issues. Last month, he underwent emergency heart surgery to remove fluid from his lungs and heart. In July, he was hospitalized with COVID-19 and double pneumonia.

Amid these health concerns, Weinstein faces legal challenges. Manhattan prosecutors are attempting to combine his original sexual crimes charges with new indictments for trial.

Weinstein’s New York conviction was overturned due to procedural errors, but he remains in custody after being convicted of rape in Los Angeles. His legal team is appealing this conviction.
