Soldier Accused of Murdering Sergeant at Missouri Base

Fort Leonard Wood Soldier Charged with Murder

A soldier stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, has been charged with murdering a sergeant whose body was discovered in a base dumpster.

Spc. Wooster Rancy, 21, faces charges of murder and obstruction of justice in the death of Sgt.

Sarah Roque, 23. Roque’s body was found on October 20th in a dumpster near soldier housing.

The nature of the relationship between Rancy and Roque is currently unknown. Rancy is currently in pretrial confinement pending a preliminary hearing.

Sergeant Sarah Roque Remembered

Sgt. Sarah Roque was a decorated soldier who served with honor and distinction. She had been reported missing on October 21st after failing to appear for formation.

Roque’s family and colleagues are devastated by her loss. Maj.

Gen. Christopher Beck, the commanding general of Fort Leonard Wood, expressed the community’s condolences and vowed to support Roque’s loved ones and unit.
