Owners of Euthanized Squirrel Prepare Legal Battle
The owners of Peanut the squirrel are determined to fight back after authorities seized and euthanized their beloved pet. Mark Longo and his wife, Daniela, accuse the state of abusing power and wasting taxpayer funds over anonymous claims that have been dismissed as unfounded.
Since Peanut’s death, the couple has received an outpouring of support from strangers across the country. Mark is heartbroken but grateful for the sympathy and anger over the allegations. He believes this support will help him demand answers from county and state officials.
Longo previously stated that officials from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation searched their home and took Peanut and a pet raccoon, both of whom were later euthanized as part of rabies testing.
Peanut had lived with Longo for seven years, bringing joy to many with his humorous and heartwarming videos. Longo vowed that Peanut’s death will not be in vain, promising revenge in this life or the next.
