- Montana senate candidate Tim Sheehy struggles to explain bullet wound story as he’s grilled by Megyn Kelly (newsbreak.com)
Republican Senate candidate Tim Sheehy’s campaign in Montana is facing challenges ahead of Election Day.
Sheehy has been questioned about conflicting statements he has made about a bullet wound he claims to have suffered in Afghanistan. In an interview, he struggled to explain the details and claimed to have covered up the injury to protect Afghan allies.
However, Sheehy’s explanation has been met with skepticism. He claimed to have injured himself in a fall at Glacier National Park in 2015 and used that as cover for the bullet wound. But hospital records are unavailable to verify his claims, and it’s unclear why he would have needed to lie about the incident.
Sheehy’s account has also been contradicted by a park ranger who said she verified his firearm had been discharged in the park in 2015.
As a result of these inconsistencies, Sheehy’s lead in polls has narrowed in recent weeks. The Democratic Party has focused on Sheehy’s unclear answers, and this issue may play a significant role if Tester wins re-election on Tuesday.
