Canton Police Officers Charged in Black Man’s Death

Two white police officers in Canton, Ohio, have been charged with reckless homicide in the death of Frank Tyson, a Black man who died in April.

Body camera footage released by the city shows one of the officers placing their knee on Tyson’s upper body. Tyson can be heard struggling for breath before losing consciousness.

The officers involved were identified as William Slater and Christopher Middleton. They have been placed on unpaid leave pending the outcome of the case.
