Far-Right Extremists Plotted to Overthrow German Government

German police arrested eight members of a far-right militant group suspected of plotting to seize power in Saxony and other eastern German states. The group, known as Saxonian Separatists, is described as having racist and antisemitic beliefs.

According to prosecutors, the group believed Germany was on the verge of collapse and planned to establish a government based on Nazi ideology. They allegedly plotted to remove “unwanted groups of people” through ethnic cleansing.

The suspects, including minors and adolescents, engaged in paramilitary training and acquired military equipment. The group had been preparing for a violent government takeover since 2020.

Seven other suspects were investigated but not detained. German authorities have repeatedly taken action against far-right groups seeking to overthrow the government.

The arrests highlight the ongoing threat posed by far-right extremists to German democracy. Government officials have warned of the growing dangers posed by such groups.
