Rapper Plies is suing Soulja Boy, Cardi B, and others for allegedly using a beat from his 2008 song “Me & My Goons.” Plies claims that Soulja Boy used the beat on his 2010 song “Pretty Boy Swag,” and that the beat was also used on the recent hit song “Wanna Be” by Meg Thee Stallion and GloRilla, which featured a remix by Cardi B.
Plies’ lawsuit names several record labels and production companies as defendants, including Universal Music Group, Collective Music Group, and Interscope. The lawsuit could potentially result in significant financial damages for the defendants.
Plies’ lawsuit comes after Meg Thee Stallion, GloRilla, and Cardi B all actively supported Kamala Harris during the recent presidential campaign. However, it appears that Plies is now seeking to distance himself from the political sphere and focus on his legal case.
