Mountain Fire Explodes, Forcing Evacuations

A fast-moving brush fire in Ventura County has surged over 14,000 acres, triggering evacuations. The blaze, dubbed the Mountain Fire, remains out of control, with no containment reported.

At least two people have been hospitalized for smoke inhalation, authorities said. The extent of property damage is unknown as the area is too dangerous to assess.

Over 14,000 residents have been ordered to evacuate as the fire continues to spread.

Broad Fire Erupts in Malibu

A second wind-driven fire, called the Broad Fire, has erupted in Malibu. It has scorched at least 50 acres and is threatening structures.

Pacific Coast Highway has been closed in both directions as a precaution, and residents have been advised to be prepared for evacuations.

Extreme Fire Conditions

The fires are fueled by strong Santa Ana winds, which have created extremely hazardous fire conditions. Winds are expected to reach gusts of up to 60 mph, making it difficult for firefighters to control the blazes.

The wind event is predicted to peak on Wednesday and gradually subside by Friday.
