Ex-Twitter marketing chief sues Musk

Additional Coverage:

Former Twitter executive Leslie Berland is suing Elon Musk, alleging she is owed $20 million in severance. Berland claims she was fired without reason in retaliation for an incident involving advertisers.

The lawsuit alleges that Musk was angered when a Twitter employee cautioned him against reinstating Donald Trump’s account during a meeting with advertisers. Berland, who had recommended the employee, was fired shortly after.

Berland claims she was denied benefits owed to her under Twitter’s policy and that Musk later cited fabricated reasons for her dismissal.

The lawsuit is one of several Musk is facing related to his handling of Twitter. Former CEO Parag Agrawal and other executives have filed similar lawsuits over unpaid severance.

Twitter has not commented on Berland’s lawsuit, but Musk has sought to dismiss other lawsuits related to severance payments. A judge recently ruled that those lawsuits can proceed.
