Father’s Dilemma: Dorm Life or Home

As a parent, I’m torn over whether my daughter should live in college dorms or at home. My fears stem from my own college experiences, where I prioritized social life over academics. I’m worried she’ll make the same mistake.

However, my daughter is eager for the typical college experience. We’ve argued extensively about it, straining our relationship. My wife believes I’m being too restrictive.

Deep down, I’m afraid for her safety and well-being. I’m slowly realizing that she’s growing independent, but it’s hard to let go.

I’m learning to accept that it’s not about me, but about her future. I’m trying to put my fears aside and trust that she’ll be okay.

Letting go is painful, but necessary. I’m listening to my daughter’s perspective and trying to validate her feelings, even if we disagree. I’m taking steps to cut the cord slowly, while ensuring she and my wife are happy.
