Seattle Stabbings: Five Injured in Random Attack
Five people were stabbed in an unprovoked assault in downtown Seattle on Friday. Police suspect the attacker may be responsible for five other stabbings in the area since Thursday morning.
Four victims remain in critical condition, while a fifth was treated and released. The suspect, whose identity remains unknown, was arrested nearby. A weapon was recovered from the scene.
Five Prior Stabbings Under Investigation
In the days leading up to Friday’s attack, five other people were stabbed in separate incidents in the same vicinity. Police believe the similarities in the attacks and the description of the assailant suggest the same suspect may be involved.
“It’s possible that the suspect in today’s stabbing is the same person responsible for the previous five incidents,” said Deputy Chief Eric Barden.
Random Nature of Attacks
The victims in both the Friday attack and the earlier stabbings appear to have been targeted at random. In one case, a robbery occurred, but the other assaults were unprovoked.
Police urge anyone with information about the suspect or the incidents to come forward. The investigation is ongoing.
