Giuliani ordered to pay damages to election workers, may lose World Series rings

Additional Coverage:

A federal judge has granted permission for two Georgia election workers to investigate the whereabouts of four Yankees World Series rings owned by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

The workers, Ruby Freeman and Shay Moss, had been awarded the rings as part of a $148 million defamation judgment against Giuliani. However, Giuliani claimed he had given the rings to his son as a gift.

The judge’s order allows Freeman and Moss to subpoena Giuliani’s accounting firm for tax returns related to the alleged gift. The plaintiffs’ attorney said the documents would help determine if the gift was genuine.

The rings are estimated to be worth at least $200,000. Giuliani has been warned that he could face contempt proceedings if he fails to turn over most of his property to the plaintiffs by Monday.

The defamation judgment stems from false accusations made by Giuliani that Freeman and Moss committed election fraud while counting ballots in Georgia’s Fulton County on Election Day in 2020.
