Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Returns

Additional Coverage:

The iconic Rockefeller Center Christmas tree has arrived in New York City, marking the 93rd year of this beloved holiday tradition.

This year’s tree, a 74-foot-tall Norway Spruce, hails from West Stockbridge, Massachusetts. It is the first tree from the Bay State to be selected since 1959.

Workers raised the massive evergreen into place on Saturday morning, as crowds gathered to capture the moment.

The annual tree lighting ceremony will take place on December 4th, hosted by singer Kelly Clarkson. The tree will be lit daily from 5 a.m. to midnight, with special 24-hour lighting on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

The coniferous giant will remain on display through mid-January, bringing joy to visitors from around the world.

The tradition of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree began in 1931, when construction workers erected a large tree in the plaza to celebrate the holiday season.
