Chiefs Triumph in Thriller, Extend Perfect Record

The Kansas City Chiefs remain undefeated at 9-0, achieving this feat for the third time in their history. In a nail-biting finish against the Denver Broncos, Chiefs linebacker Leo Chenal blocked a potential game-winning field goal with just one second left on the clock.

Chenal’s crucial block secured a 16-14 victory for Kansas City, tying their franchise record for the best start to a season. Since 2016, only the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2020 have managed more than eight wins before suffering a loss.

The Broncos had taken the lead with two touchdown passes in the second quarter. However, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce brought his team back with a touchdown reception, tying him with Tony Gonzalez for the most career touchdown receptions in franchise history.

In the fourth quarter, the Chiefs took the lead with a field goal, but the Broncos threatened to snatch victory with a field goal attempt of their own. Chenal’s block, however, kept Kansas City’s unblemished record intact.

Broncos coach Sean Payton expressed his disappointment after the loss, which dropped his team to 5-5. The Chiefs will now face the Buffalo Bills next Sunday, aiming to extend their perfect start to 10-0.
