Hiker Murder Suspect Arrested in South Carolina

Nicholas Wayne Hamlett, a fugitive wanted for murder in Tennessee, was apprehended in South Carolina on Sunday.

Hamlett allegedly made a false 911 call claiming to be a hiker who had fallen off a cliff while fleeing a bear attack. However, authorities discovered the body of a deceased man with stolen identification belonging to Brandon Andrade.

Further investigation revealed that the victim was Steven Douglas Lloyd, who Hamlett had lured into the woods to kill and steal his identity.

Hamlett, known for using multiple aliases, was spotted in South Carolina after the incident. He was finally located at a hospital and identified through his fingerprints.

He is now facing first-degree murder charges in Tennessee and a parole violation in Alabama.
