Massive Drug Bust at Texas Border
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers made a significant drug seizure at the Pharr International Bridge in Texas on Sunday.
During an inspection of a tractor-trailer entering the US from Mexico, CBP officers discovered 1,859 packages of suspected methamphetamine concealed within a shipment of serrano peppers. The drugs weighed over 2,155 pounds and had an estimated street value of $31.1 million.
The driver of the vehicle was detained, and the drugs and vehicle were seized. A criminal investigation is underway by Homeland Security Investigations agents.
Port Director Carlos Rodriguez praised the vigilance of CBP officers for preventing the drugs from reaching American streets.
This seizure is another example of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug trafficking at the border.
