Expat Finds Love and Home on Remote Island
Kelly Green’s life took an unexpected turn when she visited her parents on Tristan Da Cunha, a secluded British island in the South Atlantic. During a chance meeting at the island’s only pub, she fell for Shane, a local resident.
Despite the island’s isolation, Green found a sense of community and tranquility she had never experienced before. She moved permanently in 2013 and started a family.
Tristan Da Cunha is a self-sustaining society with a small population of about 236. Green works as the head of tourism and enjoys a peaceful lifestyle, going for daily hikes and spending time with her children.
While she misses certain conveniences from England, Green has embraced the challenges and rewards of island life. She believes that the island is a safe place to raise her kids and encourages them to explore the world once they are older.
