Outgoing US Ambassador to Australia Criticizes Cousin’s Vaccine Views

Caroline Kennedy, the outgoing US Ambassador to Australia, has denounced her cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s views on vaccinations as “dangerous.”

Kennedy, the daughter of former President John F. Kennedy, made the remarks during a farewell address in Canberra.

Kennedy’s comments come after President-elect Donald Trump nominated Robert Kennedy Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. Kennedy Jr. has repeatedly voiced support for discredited conspiracy theories linking vaccines to autism.

Kennedy acknowledged that her family supports improving public health, but stated that her cousin’s views differ from theirs. She also expressed concern about Trump’s cabinet appointments, but urged calm.

Kennedy emphasized the strong alliance between the United States and Australia, despite concerns about the impact of a Trump presidency on bilateral relations.
