UVA Shooter Pleads Guilty

A man accused of a deadly shooting at the University of Virginia in 2022 has pleaded guilty to charges. Christopher Jones Jr. admitted guilt to three counts of first-degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding, and firearm use during a felony.

Jones’s plea was entered in Albemarle County Circuit Court. He faces multiple life sentences and will be sentenced in February.

The shooting left three football team members dead: Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr., and D’Sean Perry. Two others, Mike Hollins and Marlee Morgan, were wounded. They had been returning from a field trip to Washington, D.C.

UVA President Jim Ryan expressed sympathy for the victims and community in a statement. He noted the ongoing grief and pain over the loss of the three students.
