Sixers’ George Sidelined With Knee Injury

Additional Coverage:

Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George suffered a bone bruise in his left knee on Wednesday. An MRI revealed no major damage, but George will miss at least two games as a precaution.

George injured his knee during a game against the Memphis Grizzlies and did not return. The same knee had been hyperextended in the preseason, causing George to miss the first five games of the season.

The injury is a setback for the Sixers, who had just welcomed George, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey into their starting lineup for the first time. Maxey had missed the previous six games with a hamstring injury.

George had a disappointing performance in the game he played, scoring only two points and struggling with his shot. Maxey also had difficulties, shooting just 3-of-13 from the field.

“It’s not ideal,” said Sixers coach Nick Nurse after the game. “Paul and Tyrese being out definitely affects us, but we need to find a way to perform better as a team.”
