Authorities have seized a watch belonging to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in Providence, Rhode Island, as part of their investigation into recent burglaries at athletes’ homes. Kelce’s home was broken into while the Chiefs were playing Monday Night Football, along with the home of quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Police have confirmed that $20,000 in cash was taken from Kelce’s home, but had not previously disclosed the theft of a watch. Investigators believe the athletes are being targeted based on their game schedules.
The burglaries have occurred while the athletes were away, raising concerns about potential confrontations if they or their families were present during an incident. Authorities are investigating whether a crime ring is responsible for these and other burglaries targeting luxury homeowners.
The burglars have been conducting surveillance, posing as delivery or maintenance workers, to gather information about residences and security systems. They reportedly know where to locate valuables and are often in and out of the homes within 15 minutes.
