Nebraska Ends Bowl Drought, Beats Wisconsin 44-25
Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola led the Cornhuskers to a 44-25 victory over Wisconsin, securing their first bowl eligibility since 2016. Raiola threw for 293 yards and a touchdown, while running back Dante Dowdell rushed for three scores.
Nebraska broke their four-game losing streak and avenged their previous 11 losses to the Badgers. The victory marked Nebraska’s first in nine attempts under head coach Matt Rhule when playing for bowl eligibility.
Wisconsin, on the other hand, dropped its fourth consecutive game and is now in danger of missing out on a bowl game for the first time in 22 years. The Badgers’ defense struggled, allowing Nebraska to score on six consecutive possessions.
Nebraska’s Emmett Johnson surpassed 100 rushing yards for the first time in his career, finishing with 113 yards. Jahmal Banks caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Raiola to give Nebraska a 24-10 halftime lead.
Wisconsin quarterback Braedyn Locke threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns, but was intercepted in the fourth quarter, extending his streak of being picked off to eight games.
The loss comes at a tumultuous time for Wisconsin, who fired offensive coordinator Phil Longo earlier this week and are now facing questions about their future under head coach Luke Fickell.
