Dartmouth Fraternity and Sorority Charged After Student’s Death

Months after a party turned deadly, a sorority and two fraternity members have been charged. The Alpha Phi sorority faces charges for hosting an underage alcohol house, while members of Beta Alpha Omega fraternity are accused of providing alcohol to minors.

The charges stem from an off-campus party where 20-year-old Won Jang was present. After the party, some attendees went swimming in the Connecticut River, despite most being underage.

Jang, who reportedly could not swim, was accidentally left behind. His body was later found in the river.

Jang’s blood alcohol level was 0.167%, exceeding legal limits. The incident has prompted Dartmouth College to suspend Alpha Phi and Beta Alpha Omega fraternities while an internal investigation is conducted.
