Execution of Christopher Collings

Christopher Collings, convicted of raping and murdering 9-year-old Rowan Ford in 2007, is scheduled to be executed in Missouri on Tuesday. The execution will take place at the Potosi Correctional Center.

Background

Collings, now 49, was drinking with Rowan’s stepfather when he abducted her and took her to his trailer, where he sexually assaulted her. When Rowan recognized him, Collings strangled her and dumped her body in a cave. He later confessed to the crime.

Christopher Collings

Collings had a troubled childhood, experiencing neglect and trauma in foster care. Despite becoming a father, he struggled with addiction. His attorneys argue that he is remorseful and should be spared the death penalty.

Execution Details

Collings will be executed by lethal injection at 6 p.m. He is allowed a last meal request and will deliver last words. His execution will be witnessed by family members of Rowan, as well as media representatives.
