Dems Push for Gaetz Ethics Report Release

Additional Coverage:

A Democratic congressman is demanding a House vote on the release of an ethics report into former Republican Representative Matt Gaetz.

The House Ethics Committee investigated Gaetz for allegations of sexual misconduct and drug use. However, the probe ended abruptly when Gaetz resigned from Congress.

Now, Representative Sean Casten has introduced legislation forcing a vote on the report’s release. The deadline for consideration is Thursday.

Gaetz has denied wrongdoing, and a previous federal investigation ended without charges.

It’s unusual for the Ethics Committee to release reports on former lawmakers. However, the committee has done so in the past.

The Ethics Committee met last month but failed to reach a consensus on releasing the Gaetz report. A vote on the matter is expected on Thursday, the same day Casten’s resolution will be considered.
