TV Judge Mathis Accused of Threatening City Worker with Gun

Judge Greg Mathis is facing a lawsuit after allegedly threatening a city worker with a gun. Ricardo Acosta, a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power employee, claims that Mathis verbally abused him and then threatened to shoot him after a dump truck blocked his driveway.

Acosta says Mathis cursed at him, demanding that he move the truck. When Acosta expressed safety concerns, Mathis allegedly told him to run over him and “see what happens.” Acosta alleges that Mathis then retrieved a gun and threatened to “bust a cap.”

The lawsuit, filed for assault and emotional distress, follows a police complaint filed by Acosta last July. However, Mathis’ attorney has denied the accusations, claiming that Acosta’s account is inaccurate and that Mathis feared for his safety.

She added that the police did not investigate Acosta’s claims, indicating their lack of merit. The attorney stated that they will defend the case vigorously and file cross claims against Acosta for defamation.
