Attorney Tom Dickey has taken on the defense of Luigi Mangione, accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Dickey believes Mangione should have been granted bail and maintains his client’s innocence.
Mangione was arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after an employee recognized him from suspect photos. Police found evidence linking him to the murder, including a gun and a handwritten manifesto.
Mangione appeared in court for an extradition hearing but did not waive his extradition. Dickey declined to disclose who hired him to represent Mangione.
Mangione faces charges in both Pennsylvania and New York, where he is charged with murder. At the extradition hearing, he shouted towards cameras as he was escorted into the courthouse.
