Sara Sharif’s Tragic Death: Parents and Uncle Guilty of Abuse and Murder

A jury has convicted Sara Sharif’s father, stepmother, and uncle of her murder. The 10-year-old girl died in August 2023 after enduring horrific abuse that included beatings, restraint, and burns.

Her father, Urfan Sharif, initially claimed his wife, Beinash Batool, had abused Sara while he was at work. However, he later took responsibility, admitting to causing her death. WhatsApp messages showed that violence against Sara was common in the household.

Sara’s stepmother, Batool, also participated in the abuse, sending her sister pictures of the girl’s injuries. The family’s neighbors had raised concerns about the constant shouting and aggression coming from their home.

After Sara’s death, Sharif and Batool fled to Pakistan, but were later arrested. Their uncle, Faisal Malik, was also convicted for failing to prevent Sara’s death.

The defendants will be sentenced on Tuesday. Sara’s mother expressed her grief and described her daughter’s beautiful spirit. Police described Sara’s case as one of the most disturbing they had ever encountered.
