On Saturday morning, a person was fatally shot at Fort Eisenhower, a US Army base in Georgia.
The incident occurred in housing on the base, which is located outside Augusta. The shooter was apprehended and the base was placed on lockdown, which was lifted within an hour.
The victim’s identity will be released after their family has been notified. The base has stated that the incident appears to be isolated.
Fort Eisenhower is supporting the victim’s family and offering assistance to those affected by the tragedy.
After initially issuing a lockdown alert, the base announced that the threat had passed and normal operations could resume. However, activities related to the Army-Navy football game that afternoon were canceled.
Officials from the base and nearby law enforcement agencies have not yet provided further information. Fort Eisenhower is home to the United States Army Cyber Command.
