A powerful tornado wreaked havoc in Scotts Valley, California on Saturday afternoon, causing significant damage and injuries.
The tornado, which touched down around 1:40 p.m., overturned vehicles and caused widespread damage in several areas. Emergency crews rushed to the scene and transported multiple individuals to the hospital, but no fatalities have been reported.
The tornado’s strength is still being assessed by a survey team, but videos, photos, and witness accounts indicate it was severe.
California typically experiences around 11 tornadoes annually, primarily during spring and fall. Earlier that day, the National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning for San Francisco, though it was later lifted.
