Tragedy in Georgia’s Caucasus Mountains

Twelve people have lost their lives at a ski resort in the Caucasus Mountains of Georgia. The bodies were discovered inside a restaurant at the popular Gudauri resort.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of death, but an investigation has been launched under negligent manslaughter charges. The initial examination revealed no signs of injury or violence.

Eleven of the victims were foreign nationals, while one was a Georgian citizen. A power generator was found operating in a closed space near bedrooms, leading to suspicions of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Forensic experts are currently conducting an examination to determine the exact cause of death. The ski resort remains closed while the investigation continues.

Gudauri is a major ski destination in Georgia, known for its modern facilities and challenging slopes. The resort attracts skiers and snowboarders from around the world.
