A 20-year-old California man, Alexander Paffendorf, was detained for allegedly plotting a mass shooting at a government building with 15-year-old Natalie “Samantha” Rupnow, the school shooter in Madison, Wisconsin.
FBI agents interviewed Paffendorf and obtained messages showing his plans to use explosives and a gun to target a government building.
Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes declined to comment on the arrest, referring questions to the FBI, which also declined comment.
A San Diego judge issued a restraining order against Paffendorf, ordering him to surrender his firearms and prohibiting him from obtaining new ones.
Neighbors in Paffendorf’s apartment complex reported seeing numerous police cars and officers with guns drawn at the scene of his arrest.
A court hearing for Paffendorf is scheduled for January 3rd.
Authorities have confirmed that Rupnow, a student at Abundant Life Christian School, brought two handguns to school but only used one in the attack.
