New York City Resident Pleads Guilty to Operating Chinese Police Station

A Manhattan man has admitted to running an undisclosed Chinese government police station in Chinatown. Chen Jinping pleaded guilty to acting as an agent for China and obstructing justice by deleting evidence of communication with Chinese officials.

Secret Police Station in Chinatown

Chen and co-defendant Lu Jianwang established the first known overseas police station in the U.S. Located in Chinatown, it operated from an office building and was accused of harassing Chinese citizens in the area.

FBI Investigation and Guilty Plea

In 2022, the FBI raided the station and seized Chen and Lu’s phones, discovering deleted communications with Chinese officials. Chen has now pleaded guilty and faces up to five years in prison. Lu remains charged and is awaiting trial.

Political Connections

Despite the allegations, Lu has been photographed with high-profile politicians, including Mayor Eric Adams and Senator Chuck Schumer. However, both offices have denied any knowledge or endorsement of Lu’s activities.
