Rex Heuermann, a 60-year-old man, has been charged with murdering seven women on Long Island. He was initially arrested for four murders, but additional charges were later added.
Heuermann has pleaded not guilty to all charges. The case dates back to the 1990s and has been known as the Gilgo Beach murders.
Heuermann was married to Asa Ellerup for 27 years, but she filed for divorce after his arrest. Ellerup and her attorney have stated that she had no knowledge of his alleged crimes.
The couple has two adult children, Victoria Heuermann and Christopher Sheridan, who have hired an attorney to represent them. The attorney has emphasized that the siblings are innocent bystanders and have nothing to do with the case.
