A man fleeing police drove a truck into the entrance of a mall in Killeen, Texas, on Saturday, injuring five people.
The driver allegedly ran over several individuals before he was fatally shot by law enforcement officers. The victims ranged in age from 6 to 75.
The suspect’s identity is unknown. The incident began when police tried to pull over the driver for suspected DUI. He evaded them, drove into the mall parking lot, and crashed through the glass doors of a department store.
Authorities are investigating whether the act was intentional or a result of the pursuit. The mall was crowded at the time, but the suspect was stopped before causing more harm.
Initial reports indicated an active shooter, but that was not the case.
