Escaped Mississippi inmate sought

A fugitive killer, Drew Johnson, 33, has been recaptured in Mississippi, a day after escaping prison.

Authorities had warned that Johnson was “extremely dangerous” and “desperate.” He was convicted of murder in 2022 and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Johnson was captured near the prison where he escaped on Tuesday. The George County Sheriff’s Office had urged the public to be vigilant, describing Johnson as “very dangerous.”

In addition to the Mississippi conviction, Johnson pleaded guilty to multiple crimes in Shelby County, Tennessee, including a stabbing death and an attempted murder.
