Cat Food Recall Due to Bird Flu

Northwest Naturals has issued a recall for two-pound bags of their Feline Turkey Recipe with best-by dates between May 21, 2026, and June 23, 2026. The bags have tested positive for the highly contagious bird flu virus.

The recall follows the death of a house cat in Washington County, Oregon, which was linked to consuming the contaminated food. Concerns over bird flu have escalated as dozens of human infections have occurred nationwide.

Health Risks of Raw Meat

Oregon officials emphasize the risks associated with feeding raw meat to pets. The cat’s death serves as a reminder that consuming raw meat can lead to severe illness.

Product Distribution

The recalled product is distributed nationwide through retailers in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Washington, as well as British Columbia, Canada.

Refund Information

Customers are advised to return the affected cat food to the store where it was purchased for a refund.
