- Mark Zuckerberg insists the 5,000-square-foot underground structure in his secret Hawaii compound is not a ‘doomsday bunker’ (newsbreak.com)
Last December, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta and founder of Facebook, was reportedly constructing a vast compound on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, including an underground shelter spanning over 5,000 square feet.
In a recent interview, Zuckerberg downplayed the shelter’s significance, claiming it was merely a “little shelter” or “basement.” However, an investigation by Wired magazine suggested otherwise.
The shelter is believed to feature a blast-resistant door, an escape hatch, and its own energy and food supplies. Strict nondisclosure agreements were reportedly enforced during its construction, with workers forbidden from communicating with each other.
Anonymous sources speculated that Zuckerberg was building a post-apocalyptic bunker or underground city. The rumor of wealthy individuals constructing underground facilities in anticipation of catastrophic events is not uncommon, with names like Bill Gates and Elon Musk being mentioned.
Meta has not yet commented on the matter.
