Lost Dog Miraculously Returns Home on Christmas Eve
Athena, a beloved German Shepherd and Husky mix, escaped from her home in Green Cove Springs, Florida, on December 15. Her worried family and community members embarked on a weeklong search.
Despite their efforts, Athena remained elusive, making a mysterious 20-mile roundtrip. Comer and her family relentlessly pursued every sighting, but Athena seemed to be a master of hide-and-seek.
On Christmas Eve, a miracle occurred. At 2:30 a.m., Athena’s family received a doorbell alert from their Ring camera. To their astonishment, it was Athena, jumping at the door and ringing the bell.
Overjoyed, the family opened the door and Athena rushed inside. She licked her son’s face, grabbed her ball, and curled up in her cage to sleep.
Comer expressed immense gratitude for the support and hope provided by their neighbors and the community during the search. Athena’s safe return was a testament to the power of a united effort.
As a precaution, Athena will undergo a full exam, receive flea and tick treatments, and get a microchip to ensure her safety in the future.
