Tornadoes Strike Texas and Mississippi
Multiple tornadoes wreaked havoc in Texas and Mississippi on Saturday, leaving two dead and injuring several others. In Texas, one person died in the Liverpool area, while four others were injured but not critically.
Around 10 homes were damaged in Brazoria County, with further assessments still underway. In Mississippi, one person was killed and two injured in Natchez, while another two were hurt in Franklin County.
Storm Damage Extensive
The National Weather Service confirmed two tornadoes hit near Bude and Brandon, Mississippi, damaging several buildings. In Houston, an estimated six tornadoes caused widespread damage, including both tornadoes and straight-line winds.
In Montgomery County, 50 to 100 homes were damaged, and two people were hospitalized with non-critical injuries. Mobile homes were destroyed in Katy and Porter Heights, while a fire station’s doors were blown in.
Power Outages and Travel Delays
As of Saturday night, over 111,000 customers were without power in Mississippi, while 61,000 were affected in Louisiana. Departure delays of over an hour were reported at both of Houston’s main airports.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency expects more detailed damage reports in the coming days. First responders are prioritizing safety and accounting for everyone affected.
