Southern Storms Kill 4

Over the weekend, six states were hit by severe storms and multiple tornadoes, resulting in at least four fatalities.

In Mississippi, Governor Tate Reeves confirmed two deaths and extensive property damage in 14 counties. One victim was in Adams County, while the other was in Lowndes County.

Texas reported one death in the Liverpool area when a suspected tornado struck. At least four others were injured.

North Carolina also reported a fatality in Iredell County. A 70-year-old man was killed when his truck was hit by a falling tree during heavy rain and high winds.

The National Weather Service confirmed at least seven tornadoes, including five in Texas. In Montgomery County, Texas, an EF-3 tornado left eight people injured and damaged over 300 structures.

As of Sunday afternoon, the severe weather was subsiding, but a thunderstorm watch remained in effect for South Carolina and North Carolina. Damaging winds were forecast.

The same storm complex was expected to reach the Southeast, bringing a severe threat. Heavy rain was predicted to move across the mid-Atlantic and Northeast overnight and into Monday morning.
